Abstract The photothermal sterilization coating was prepared by using sulfuric acid doped polyaniline (PANI) as photothermal material for the first time. The photothermal sterilization experiments was carried out, taking the flash light as light source. The UV-Vis absorption and photothermal conversion performance of PANI coatings were investigated. The effects of the different flash distances on the PANI coatings and the sterilization performance of the coating were explored. The results showed that the doping of sulfuric acid was beneficial for improving the visible light absorption and photothermal conversion performance of the material. Too close irradiation would make the material melt and dedoped. It could be found in the sterilization experiment that sulfuric acid-doped PANI coating exerted marvelous sterilization effect through a millisecond flash. Under va-rious irradiation distances, there existed a “Trade Off” relationship between the sterilization rate and reusability of the coating. When the irradiation distance was 3 cm, the coating presented both favorable sterilization performance and satisfactory reusability.

About author:: Zhao Liureceived his master degree in chemical engineering from the Tianjin University. His research inte-rests focus on the application of photothermal sterilization. He Participated in the National Natural Science Foundation project, marine public welfare project.Jixiao Wangis a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Chemical Engineering of Tianjin University. He graduated from the Institute of Polymer Chemistry of Nankai University in 1998 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Chemical Engineering of Tianjin University from 1998 to 2000. He is currently a member of the Tianjin University Chemical Collaborative Innovation Center and National Key Laboratory of United Laboratory for Chemical Engineering
and the head of Key Laboratory of Membrane Science and Desalination Technology. He hosted or participated nearly 40 projects as a backbone and published more than 130 SCI papers in international journals with SCI been totaled more than 2050 times, singles the highest number of cited times more than 200 times; 30 invention patents are authorized.
